Fragrant Leaves
|
Fragrance is the gift of the
Almighty to us to further enhance our life. Fragrance has been utilized
in treatment of many conditions by their sheer ability to excite our
olfactory nerves which sends electrical impulses to then influence the
higher centers to modify our conditions. This is the basis of
Aromatherapy.
Plants has fragrant substances stored in various parts but especially
so in their flowers. This attracts insects and small animals to them
and aid in the process of polination and propagation of the plant.
Fragrant compunds are distributed throughout nature with some being
present in various plants. As an example citronella which give that
distinct lemony note can be found in grasses as in lemon grass or serai
wangi right up to huge trees like Eucalyptus citridora.
